Decorating Our Church Christmas Tree - Second Tree of Six

This is our Church Christmas tree in red, gold, cream and white. It was inspired by "Miss Mustard Seed's" sheet music wreath Christmas ornaments.. When I first saw the them, I knew that I wanted to make one but then decided to do the ornaments for our Church tree.  Everyone loves it!

I used vine balls for filler, icicles, gold snowflakes, several music note ornaments, dove ornaments and lots of Christmas balls.  I had to narrow the photo above to remove the photos of our former pastors behind the tree..
Thanks Marion - for the inspiration. They are not nearly the caliber of yours....but I had fun !!    Here's a sneak peek of the wreaths...

Decorating Christmas Trees - One of Six

I love Christmas because it celebrates the birth of my Saviour - Jesus Christ.. and I truly love decorating for the season.  I have been so inspired by my favorite blogs this year, so I thought that I would share some of my Christmas decor.

This turquoise blue, lime green and gold Christmas tree has ornaments from Big Lots, Dollar Tree, Walmart and probably Hobby Lobby... I lost track..since I have purchased at least some items for 6 trees this year..

Love the turquoise, green and gold striped ornament from
Mighty Dollar, it pulled everything together..

What's your favorite color scheme for Christmas decor??

More Beautiful Accent Pillows.....Made From Placemats

Most of you know by now - that I love making decorative pillows from placemats..  I love how inexpensive and quick they are to make.. Also, I find unique placemat prints to work with..

I picked up these great leaf placemats and quickly transformed them.

These two decorative pillows were a quick project and with polyfill came out to less than $7 each. I probably would have had them finished in less than 30 minutes
IF I could have:

Found the seam ripper - used a sharp knife point instead

Found some green thread-realized the top stitching was gold thread -found that

Found my glasses to thread the sewing machine

Anyway, I love the way these

Quick, Easy Accent Pillows

I do love finding great fabric for decorating projects.. Primarily - I only sew now if I need unique decorative pillows, throws or window treatments..

I made the funky, retro pillows below for a bedroom redesign.. The room was for an artsy, teenage girl and she was thrilled with her new pad !!

Decorative Pillows - Made From......Placemats !

Fun, colorful, decorative throw pillows are probably, my favorite accessory for decorating projects.. They create a lot of bang for the buck - when you need a splash of color in a room. These beautiful pillows can get expensive but a great inexpensive way to make you own throw pillows with very little sewing is to use ready-made placemats..

Even high-end placemats are still less expensive than pillows and you will have a great variety of fabrics and colors.. The easiest ones to work with will have 2 pieces of fabric stitched together so you can rip out one seam on the end to stuff with fiberfill or a pillow form.. If you don't have a sewing machine handy - you can even use glue or "stitch witchery" adhesive to bind the seam back together..

You can make a great little lumbar pillow from a single layer placemat by just folding in half and top-stitching leaving a space to stuff the fiberfill or stitch right sides together, leaving an opening for turning and stuffing..

Here is probably my favorite little animal print - placemat pillow that I folded in half - stitched, stuffed and added eyelash fringe >>>

This is a jungle themed kids room. The striped animal print pillow in the middle is a 2 layer - placemat pillow....

Let us see your favorite decorative accessory..

Easy Art For Your Home

Canvas paintings are perfect for home decor.  Portable, light weight, inexpensive and fun to do !

This painting was inspired by our bedroom rug. I sketched in the leaves and started working the color to match..  The rug in the photo does not "read" as blue as it appears in person..

Try your hand at canvas art or use unexpected objects as artwork... I would love to hear about your art and home decor projects.
